US defense technology company NUBURU, through its subsidiary Lyocon, has developed a portable directed energy laser system that can be mounted on rifles, designed to counter the threat of low-cost small drones on the battlefield. The system utilizes multi-band lasers (including green, blue, and infrared bands) for optical interference, disrupting the drones' cameras and navigation systems to render them incapable of reconnaissance and guidance. The system has completed proof-of-concept and prototype testing, featuring a modular and scalable design with adjustable output power ranging from 1 to 10 watts, suitable for different distances and targets.
