US chip giant Broadcom could potentially become the subject of an antitrust investigation by the European Union. Earlier, Broadcom discontinued its VMware cloud service provider program across Europe, an action that has sparked significant discontent among the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE). The association has called upon EU regulatory bodies to intervene and prevent Broadcom's decision from taking effect, emphasizing that Broadcom's unilateral move to exclude the majority of its partners has adversely impacted the interests of cloud service providers as well as their customers. At present, EU regulators have acknowledged receipt of the complaint and are in the process of conducting a thorough assessment.
