On March 20, 2026, the three major indices of A-shares exhibited a mixed performance at the market opening. The Shanghai Composite Index commenced trading 0.05% lower, while the Shenzhen Component Index kicked off with a 0.86% increase, and the ChiNext Index surged by 1.6% right from the start. In terms of sectoral performance, the optical module and semiconductor sectors emerged as the frontrunners in terms of gains. Mingpu Optoelectronics soared to its daily limit, Changguang Huaxin witnessed a rise exceeding 9%, and both Tecolet and Tianfu Communication experienced surges of over 8%. On the flip side, the oil and gas, as well as the coal sectors, faced significant declines. Tongyuan Petroleum plummeted by more than 9%, Intercontinental Oil saw a drop of over 7%, and China Coal Energy declined by more than 4%. Among the newly listed stocks, N Xinhengtai made a remarkable debut, soaring by 123.40% on its first day of trading.
