The global chip supply chain has suffered another blow. As reported by Toms Hardware on Thursday (the 12th), drawing on sources from Nikkei News and Gasworld, the Ras Laffan helium complex, operated by QatarEnergy, was forced to shut down for nine days following an Iranian drone strike on March 2. This incident has disrupted roughly 30% of the world's helium supply. Presently, there are no immediate plans to resume operations. Helium, an indispensable material in chip manufacturing, could compel chipmakers to scale back production capacity for artificial intelligence memory, further intensifying the already dire memory shortage crisis.
