On March 6, during a press conference centered on economic matters at the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress, Zheng Shanjie, the Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, articulated that China is set to concentrate on nurturing six emerging pillar sectors alongside six future-oriented industries. The six emerging pillar sectors encompass integrated circuits, aerospace, biopharmaceuticals, the low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and intelligent robotics. By 2025, the combined output value of these sectors is anticipated to approach RMB 6 trillion, with expectations to surge to over RMB 10 trillion by 2030. The six future-oriented industries include quantum technology, biomanufacturing, green hydrogen and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G. These industries are currently at the cusp of technological breakthroughs, and it is foreseeable that these future-oriented industries may evolve into emerging pillar sectors in the years to come.
