On March 2, news emerged that SmartSens, a prominent player in the CMOS image sensor sector, had notified its customers on February 26 of an impending price surge. Specifically, the company revealed that smart security and AIoT products fabricated at Samsung's wafer fabrication plant would witness a 20% price escalation, while those produced at Nexchip's facility would experience a 10% uptick, both taking effect from March 1. SmartSens attributed this price adjustment to the prevailing global shortage of memory chips, which has disrupted supply chain equilibrium and exerted upward pressure on costs at upstream wafer fabrication plants. After thorough deliberation, the company opted to implement price increases to safeguard the stability and quality of its product supply.
