Initially, there was a belief that the pace of memory price hikes had decelerated. However, to everyone's surprise, SK Hynix has announced a further 40% increase in the prices of its DDR5 memory chips. This move has led some memory module manufacturers to temporarily suspend their quotations. According to Rose Lee of PCDIY!, memory prices are poised to surge in successive waves, exhibiting a rapid upward trajectory. Since September 2025, storage chip prices have been on a relentless climb, with spot prices for DDR5 memory chips skyrocketing by over 300%. The cost of a single 256GB DDR5 server memory module has now surpassed 40,000 yuan. It is anticipated that storage chip prices will experience an additional hike of 40% to 50% in the first quarter of 2026, followed by yet another increase of approximately 20% in the second quarter.
