According to reports from TheElec, Samsung Electronics is set to discontinue the production of 2D NAND flash memory at its Hwaseong campus's Line 12 as soon as March this year, signaling the conclusion of its 2D NAND flash memory phase. Despite having achieved mass production of 3D NAND (V-NAND) technology back in 2013, Samsung has maintained a limited 2D NAND production capacity to cater to the specific needs of niche markets. Looking ahead, Line 12 in Hwaseong will be transformed to focus on the manufacturing of 1c nm DRAM memory, handling tasks related to back-end metal wiring and surface treatment processes.
