The rapid advancement of AI technology has significantly boosted its demand for semiconductors, extending from AI chips to a wider array of applications. Recently, Murata, a leading Japanese manufacturer in the passive components sector, has commenced internal deliberations regarding potential price hikes for Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs). Previously, influenced by factors such as escalating raw material expenses and heightened demand from the AI and automotive industries, a variety of passive components have already witnessed several rounds of price increases from the latter half of 2025 through February 2026, with the increments spanning from 5% to 30%. Distributors have noted that Murata's contemplation of raising MLCC prices underscores the robust demand from the AI sector, indicates a promising future for the high-end passive component market, and simultaneously, is putting pressure on the capacity for low-end MLCCs, thereby driving up prices across the board for passive components.
