Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, presented the government's fiscal budget for the 2026-2027 financial year at the Legislative Council today (25th). He pointed out that the pilot line for R&D and trial production of third-generation semiconductor chip technology at the Hong Kong Microelectronics R&D Institute will commence operations within the year, a move that will drive local chip R&D and industrial upgrading. Additionally, the 'New Industrial Acceleration Program' has supported two enterprises developing semiconductor chip technology and equipment, with a total investment exceeding HK$1.5 billion.
