On February 24, the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) released data showing that global silicon wafer shipments reached 12.973 billion square inches in 2025, marking a 5.8% year-on-year increase. SEMI stated that last year marked a turning point for the recovery of wafer shipment growth, driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence applications, with strong demand for advanced epitaxial wafers for logic circuits and polished wafers for high-bandwidth memory, fueling the growth in shipments. During the same period, wafer sales reached $11.4 billion, down 1.2% year-on-year. SEMI attributed this primarily to lagging recovery in demand and prices.
