In light of the surging demand for AI chip orders, TSMC is significantly boosting its investment in its 2-nanometer (2nm) manufacturing facility. According to the latest updates on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process, TSMC submitted an EIA proposal last year to build a new semiconductor plant in Zone A of the designated area within the Southern Taiwan Science Park. The proposed site spans approximately 15.46 hectares. The company plans to commence architectural planning, apply for necessary permits, and initiate construction activities in 2026, with the project slated for completion and operational readiness by 2028. Notably, TSMC’s 2nm technology has already achieved mass production status in the fourth quarter of 2025, demonstrating favorable yield rates. Mass production is anticipated to ramp up further in 2026.
