On February 6, 2026, information from sources close to the issue revealed that both Intel and AMD have informed their Chinese customers about a significant shortage in server CPU supplies. Intel has cautioned that delivery times could stretch up to six months. Due to these supply constraints, the prices of Intel server products in China have seen a general increase of over 10%, with the exact prices fluctuating based on customer contracts. Additionally, delivery times for certain AMD products have also been prolonged to 8 to 10 weeks. The primary cause of this shortage is the soaring demand for AI computing power, which has led to an exponential rise in the need for server CPUs. At the same time, advanced manufacturing capacities at foundries such as TSMC have been largely taken up by AI accelerator chips, further intensifying the CPU supply crunch.
