On February 5, Nikkei Asia disclosed that, owing to the strained worldwide supply of memory chips—a situation that has disrupted product rollouts and escalated expenses within the tech sector—four prominent PC manufacturers, namely HP, Dell, Acer, and ASUS, are contemplating procuring memory chips from Chinese chip producers for the inaugural time. HP has already initiated the certification process for products sourced from ChangXin Memory Technologies, while Dell is engaged in analogous certification procedures. Meanwhile, Acer and ASUS are exploring avenues to secure supplies of Chinese memory chips through their partners.
