On February 4, reports surfaced indicating that in December of the previous year, NVIDIA's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, struck a deal with US President Trump. This led to widespread speculation that NVIDIA would make a comeback in the Chinese market, a market that Huang characterized as boasting an "annual value of up to $50 billion." Nevertheless, on the same day (February 4), the UK's Financial Times, drawing on sources close to the situation, reported that, despite Trump's endorsement of exports, the definitive green light for NVIDIA to supply its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China is still up in the air. Almost two months have elapsed, and the US government continues to conduct a "national security review" to determine whether to grant licenses to Chinese customers. Moreover, sources divulged that, due to the uncertainties surrounding the availability and terms of the licenses, Chinese customers have refrained from placing orders for H200 chips from NVIDIA.
