Samsung Electro-Mechanics is making significant strides in its commercialization endeavor for semiconductor glass substrates. The company has transferred the project from its R&D (Research and Development) unit to its dedicated business division. Specifically, this project now falls under the purview of the Packaging Solutions Business Division, indicating its official move towards commercial readiness.

Semiconductor glass substrates represent the industry's next-generation technology, capable of substantially boosting performance. Other industry players, such as Samsung Electronics, are also making notable advancements in this domain.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics made its foray into this field in early 2024. The company had already set up a pilot production line the previous year and opted to establish a joint venture with Sumitomo Chemical Group. At present, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is concentrating on overcoming technical hurdles and constructing a robust supply chain. Mass production is anticipated to commence post-2027. Additionally, the company is engaging in collaborative efforts with global customers to develop prototype samples.
