Intel has formally introduced its Xeon 600 series workstation processors, internally dubbed 'Granite Rapids Workstation.' These processors are built upon the same cutting-edge technological framework as the Xeon 6900P, 6700P, and 6500P 'Granite Rapids' models. Designed for the FCLGA4710 socket, this series necessitates the use of motherboards equipped with the W890 chipset.
The processors support an impressive configuration of up to 86 CPU cores and 8-channel memory architecture, ensuring seamless compatibility with DDR5-6400 RDIMM memory modules. Moreover, they offer an expansive connectivity option with up to 128 direct PCIe Gen5 lanes. The flagship processor in this lineup, the Xeon 696X, showcases substantial enhancements in single-thread, multi-thread, and AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) performance when compared to the premium offerings of the preceding generation.
The Xeon 600 series is divided into four distinct branches: Xeon 69x, 67x, 65x, and 63x. Each branch varies in terms of core count, memory support capabilities, clock locking mechanisms, and power consumption levels. These processors are anticipated to hit the market by the end of March 2026, available either through partner channels or as standalone boxed units.
