Lately, whispers have been circulating that Intel is set to make a comeback in Apple's supply chain, taking on the production of certain M-series processors as well as non-Pro iPhone chips. As per industry analysts, Apple is considering leveraging Intel's 18A technology to craft lower-tier M-series chips by 2027. These chips are expected to find their way into devices like the MacBook Air and the entry-level iPad Pro. Fast forward to 2028, and Apple might turn to Intel's 14A technology to manufacture the A21/A22 chips, which would be used in the non-Pro variants of the iPhone 20 series. However, industry insiders caution that Intel's ability to clinch the deal hinges on its technology successfully passing muster during verification. Moreover, the initial scope of the collaboration is likely to be modest, with TSMC continuing to hold the reins as Apple's go-to chip foundry.
