Kioxia and SanDisk Extend Partnership: Joint Venture Agreement for Japan’s Yokkaichi Plant Extended to 2034

On January 29 (local time), Kioxia and SanDisk jointly announced an extension of their joint venture agreement concerning Kioxia's Yokkaichi manufacturing facility in Japan. The agreement, initially set to expire on December 31, 2029, will now run through December 31, 2034, marking a five-year extension. In a related move, the validity period of the joint venture agreement for the Kita-Ibi plant has also been extended accordingly to align with this new timeline.

As part of the extended agreement, SanDisk will compensate Kioxia with a total of $1.165 billion. This payment is designated for manufacturing services and to secure a continuous supply of products. The payment will be structured in installments, scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2029.
