On Wednesday, Hsiu-Lan Hsu, Chairwoman of Taiwan's GlobalWafers, a leading silicon wafer manufacturer, announced that following the receipt of firm customer order commitments, the company is now proceeding with the Phase II expansion of its factory in Texas, USA. Previously, GlobalWafers had already made a substantial investment of US$3.5 billion to establish a factory in Texas. In May of the previous year, to better cater to the needs of local customers, the company unveiled plans for an additional investment of US$4 billion.
