On January 21, Bloomberg reported that Huang Renxun, the CEO of NVIDIA, is slated to visit China in late January. His primary objective is to facilitate the re-entry of NVIDIA's AI chip business into the Chinese market. Prior to the Spring Festival holiday, Huang Renxun will participate in NVIDIA's corporate events held in China, and there are expectations that he may also travel to Beijing. At present, it is still uncertain whether he will have meetings with high-ranking Chinese officials. Moreover, his travel itinerary is not yet finalized and could be subject to modifications.
This visit takes place at a pivotal moment for NVIDIA's market expansion in China. It follows the U.S. government's decision to moderately loosen export restrictions on high-end AI processors. This policy shift enables NVIDIA to supply its latest-generation H200 chips to the Chinese market. Nevertheless, the Chinese authorities are still in the process of evaluating the precise volume of imports and the range of applications for these chips.
