Samsung Electronics is set to hand out a hefty performance bonus to its semiconductor (DS) division employees in early 2026. The bonus amount will be equivalent to 43% - 48% of their annual salaries. This payout rate is a staggering increase, more than tripling the 14% figure seen in 2024.
The semiconductor industry has been riding a wave of success lately. Globally, the memory market is facing a tight supply situation, while the demand for DRAM (Dynamic Random-Access Memory) and HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) is skyrocketing. Against this backdrop, Samsung's semiconductor business has staged a remarkable comeback.
Samsung stands at the forefront of cutting-edge memory technology. It has not only secured orders for Nvidia's HBM3E but has also made the transition to DDR5 memory production. Moreover, Apple has chosen Samsung as the largest supplier of LPDDR5X memory chips for the iPhone 17 and subsequent models.
However, it's worth noting that the bonus percentages differ across Samsung's various internal divisions. Employees in the Mobile Experience (MX) division are in for a treat, as they will receive performance bonuses ranging from 45% - 50% of their annual salaries. On the other hand, divisions like Visual Display (VD), Digital Appliances (DA), Networks, and Medical Equipment are expected to receive relatively modest bonuses, in the range of only 9% - 12%.
