Intel Forges Collaboration with India to Delve into Localization of Chip Manufacturing, Packaging, and Testing

On December 8, 2025, Intel and the Tata Group unveiled the formation of a strategic partnership. This alliance aims to explore avenues for empowering consumer and enterprise hardware, fostering cooperation in semiconductor and system manufacturing, bolstering the local semiconductor ecosystem in India, and driving the development of India's indigenous electronics and semiconductor supply chains.

As per the agreement, Tata Electronics is set to leverage its forthcoming foundry, along with packaging and testing facilities, to undertake the localized production of Intel products and engage in advanced packaging collaborations. The two entities also have plans to broaden their offerings of customized AI PC solutions. Projections indicate that India is poised to emerge as one of the top five global markets in this domain by 2030. The Tata Group is committing an investment of roughly $14 billion to establish India's inaugural foundry, which is anticipated to kick - off production in 2027. Meanwhile, the packaging and testing facility is slated to commence operations in the second quarter of the upcoming year.
