Media sources indicate that on December 8 (local time), former U.S. President Trump took to social media to announce that the U.S. administration would permit NVIDIA to export its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China. However, this permission comes with a stipulation: a fee will be levied on each chip sold. Trump clarified that the U.S. would impose a 25% share on the proceeds from the export of these pertinent chips, with the U.S. Department of Commerce currently ironing out the specifics of this arrangement. This policy will extend to other artificial intelligence chip manufacturers, including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel. In reaction to this development, NVIDIA expressed that supplying the H200 chips to commercial customers marks a praiseworthy initiative.
