Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, shared a post that, for the first time, comprehensively outlined the long-term strategic plan and objectives of Tesla's in-house AI chip development team. He pointed out that the general public lacks a full understanding of Tesla's commitment to chip design. In reality, Tesla has maintained an "advanced AI chip and circuit board engineering team" for several years. The company has already integrated millions of its self-developed AI chips into its vehicles and data centers, positioning Tesla as a frontrunner in real-world AI applications. At present, Tesla's vehicles are equipped with the AI4 chip, while the AI5 chip is on the verge of entering the tape-out phase, and the development of the AI6 chip is well underway. Tesla has set an ambitious goal to introduce and commence mass production of a new chip every 12 months, with the vision that future chip production will outstrip the cumulative output of all other AI chips combined. The utilization of self-developed chips is anticipated to yield a multitude of benefits, including enhancing driving safety and facilitating advanced medical services. Although Musk refrained from disclosing specific technical details or the exact scale of chip deployment, he underscored the pivotal role these chips play. Furthermore, he announced that Tesla is actively seeking talent in the chip sector and urged applicants to highlight three aspects that demonstrate their "exceptional capabilities."
