On November 14, two insiders disclosed that Samsung Electronics has increased the prices of certain memory chips this month. Owing to the global upswing in AI data center construction, these chips are experiencing supply constraints, with prices soaring by as much as 60% compared to September figures. It has been reported that Samsung delayed the official announcement of supply contract pricing for October before implementing this price increase. Typically, pricing details are announced on a monthly basis. Tobey Gonnerman, the president of semiconductor distributor Fusion Worldwide, remarked that numerous large server manufacturers and data center builders have come to terms with the reality of insufficient product supply and are consequently paying substantial premiums. He revealed that the contract price for Samsung's 32GB DDR5 memory chip module skyrocketed to $239 in November, up from $149 in September. DDR memory chips, which are utilized in servers, computers, and other devices, serve to enhance computing performance by temporarily storing data and facilitating rapid data transmission and retrieval. Moreover, Samsung has also raised the prices of its 16GB DDR5 and 128GB DDR5 chips by roughly 50%, bringing them to $135 and $1,194, respectively. Gonnerman further pointed out that the prices for 64GB DDR5 and 96GB DDR5 chips have witnessed an increase of over 30%.
