Insider sources reveal that Intel is currently in the early stages of negotiation to acquire SambaNova Systems, an AI chip startup. At present, both parties are actively engaged in discussions regarding the terms of this potential acquisition. Prior to this, SambaNova had teamed up with investment banks to reach out to possible acquirers, aiming to assess their level of interest.
Should the deal reach fruition, the company's valuation might fall short of the $5 billion mark it achieved during its 2021 funding round. Established in 2017, SambaNova has successfully raised over $1.1 billion in funding from a diverse range of investors. These include prominent names such as Intel Capital and SoftBank Vision Fund. The startup's core team brings a wealth of experience in both chip design and machine learning to the table.
