Insider sources reveal that SK Hynix has kicked off the installation of production equipment at its brand-new M15X factory in Cheongju, a city nestled in central South Korea and situated 111 kilometers south of Seoul. The plant is slated to become fully operational next year. Serving as an extension of the existing M15 factory, this new facility is poised to emerge as the primary production hub for SK Hynix's high-bandwidth memory (HBM) offerings.
To bolster production efforts, SK Hynix has redeployed a portion of its headquarters' workforce to Cheongju. Given the steady upswing in global demand for HBM, the completion of the M15X factory is anticipated to further cement SK Hynix's dominant standing in this competitive sector. At present, SK Hynix has wrapped up preparations for the large-scale production of HBM4 and is actively engaged in supply negotiations with NVIDIA.
