At an event organized by U.S.-headquartered Castle Securities in October 2025, NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, disclosed that owing to the ramifications of U.S. export control regulations, NVIDIA's foothold in China's AI chip sector had nosedived from a dominant 95% to a complete zero, compelling the company to make a full-scale exit from the Chinese market. Huang highlighted that the U.S.'s technological embargo on China had severed NVIDIA's connection to the world's second-largest computing market. He underscored the fact that China houses roughly 50% of the globe's AI researchers and argued that curbing their access to U.S. technology was a strategic misstep. In spite of the hurdles, NVIDIA is still striving to re-enter the Chinese market via tailored chips and has urged a reevaluation of the existing policies.
