Recently, Associate Professor Zhou Taojie from the School of Microelectronics at South China University of Technology (SCUT) has made a significant research stride. His study, titled "Ultra-Compact Topological Photonic Crystal Rainbow Nanolasers Operating in the 1550 nm Telecom Band with Wavelength-Scale Mode Volumes," was published in Advanced Materials, a premier international journal. This groundbreaking research has successfully developed topological rainbow photonic crystal nanolasers that operate within the C-band of optical communications. These nanolasers boast ultra-high integration levels and low power consumption, positioning them as promising candidates for providing efficient on-chip light sources in next-generation photonic chips.
