Recently, a significant collaboration between NVIDIA and Intel has been unveiled. Intel is set to customize CPUs based on the x86 architecture specifically for NVIDIA. The wafer fabrication for these CPUs will be predominantly undertaken by TSMC. Subsequently, the fabricated wafers will be dispatched to Intel's foundry for the packaging process. In a strategic move, NVIDIA will invest $5 billion to acquire a stake in Intel, thereby becoming one of its major shareholders. The two tech giants plan to collaborate on the development of multiple x86 CPU products, which are earmarked for deployment in data centers and PC products. NVIDIA intends to procure Intel's customized x86 CPUs and incorporate them into its NVLink ecosystem, with the aim of constructing rack-level AI supercomputers. Additionally, the partnership will see the development of x86 SoC products that integrate NVIDIA's GPU chips, targeting the PC market.
