Chipmaker STMicroelectronics announced on Wednesday that it will invest $60 million in its factory in Tours, France, to build a pilot production line using advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology. The French-Italian joint venture said it will develop next-generation advanced process technology here. Since announcing a major restructuring plan in October last year, the company has been relocating outdated chip production lines from its Tours factory.
