Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon recently commented that Intel’s current chip manufacturing capabilities do not yet align with Qualcomm’s stringent technical standards—at least not for the production of Snapdragon X series chips. As a result, Intel is not currently considered a viable manufacturing partner for Qualcomm. While the potential for future collaboration between the two tech giants remains open, Qualcomm has no immediate plans to engage Intel as a supplier in the foreseeable future.

Previously, Intel hinted at the possibility of delaying or even discontinuing its 14A process development, a move that has already raised concerns within the industry. Additionally, questions have arisen regarding the viability of Intel’s 18A process node. Amon’s candid remarks have only intensified skepticism about Intel’s manufacturing prowess.

Despite these reservations, Qualcomm has not completely dismissed the idea of partnering with Intel. Should Intel succeed in meeting Qualcomm’s technical benchmarks, the door for collaboration could still open. After all, both companies have expressed mutual interest in working together in the past.
