Indian Prime Minister Modi recently announced that India is on the path to developing some of the world's most advanced chips, though specific details remain undisclosed. Currently, the pinnacle of chip technology globally is represented by 2nm chips, which are manufactured using TSMC's cutting-edge processes. Prior reports in Indian media indicated that the Indian government has allocated $200 million to the Bangalore Advanced Computing Development Center with the aim of developing a 2nm GPU. The plan envisions launching a cost-effective product by 2030, claiming that it will offer a 50% cost reduction compared to current NVIDIA chips. However, given India's current lack of a 2nm production line, mass production will necessitate the use of TSMC's foundry services. Concurrently, India is expediting the construction of local 28nm fabs, with expectations of achieving mass production by the end of 2025.
