On August 27, insights gathered from the Shaanxi leg of the "New Industrialization Media Research Tour" symposium revealed that China has established 64,000 5G industry virtual private networks, marking a significant step forward as the information and communication technology (ICT) industry accelerates its development to provide comprehensive support for new industrialization. Sun Ji, Deputy Director of the Information and Communication Development Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), outlined MIIT's continued focus on three core areas: "construction, utilization, and research," aimed at enhancing the competitive edge of the ICT industry. Firstly, MIIT will intensify network construction and upgrades, expanding the reach of 5G and gigabit optical networks. This includes accelerating the pilot deployment of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and 10-gigabit optical networks, deeply implementing the Universal Service Obligation (USO) and the "Broadband Frontier" initiative, and launching a dedicated "Signal Upgrade" campaign to forge a unified national computing network system. Secondly, MIIT will drive the implementation and promotion of 5G applications by executing the enhanced "Sailing" action plan for large-scale 5G applications, the upgraded "5G+Industrial Internet" 512 project, and the three-year action plan for identifier "interconnection." These initiatives aim to foster coordinated development between the ICT industry and artificial intelligence. Finally, MIIT will bolster technological innovation and research by promoting the deployment of the 5G-A product system and high-quality networks, while accelerating R&D efforts in 6G technology. This forward-looking approach also includes nurturing the 6G application industry ecosystem, ensuring a robust foundation for future technological advancements.
