On August 27, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released figures indicating that the communications industry operated seamlessly during the first seven months of the year, witnessing consistent growth in both telecom business volume and revenue, along with accelerated progress in the development of new infrastructure. The number of users for 5G, gigabit, and IoT services has risen steadily. Cumulative telecom business revenue hit 1.0431 trillion yuan, marking a 0.7% year-on-year increase; telecom business volume, meanwhile, grew by 8.9% year-on-year. As of the end of July, the total count of 5G base stations had risen to 4.598 million, an increase of 348,000 from the end of last year. This represents 36% of the total and signifies a 0.3 percentage point increase from the first half of the year.
