Synchron, a pioneering American company, recently unveiled its groundbreaking vascular brain-computer interface (BCI) system. This innovative system allows patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to control devices like iPhones and iPads exclusively through their thoughts, eliminating the need for physical actions or voice commands. In clinical trials, six patients have triumphantly harnessed their brain signals to operate electronic devices for daily tasks, including sending emails, engaging in online shopping, and interacting on social media. Synchron's technology is implanted into the brain via minimally invasive vascular access, significantly reducing surgical risks and facilitating a smoother recovery process. Notably, Chen Tianqiao, the former wealthiest individual in mainland China, invested in Synchron in 2021. He firmly believes that brain science represents the final frontier for humanity, and his investment in this cutting-edge technology aims to accelerate the fusion of brain science with artificial intelligence.
