In September, Microsoft aims to roll out an update for its Authenticator app on iOS, introducing a revamped backup system and scrapping the necessity for users to sign in with a Microsoft personal account. The updated app will harness iCloud accounts for backups, facilitating the synchronization of account names and TOTP credentials. This feature will be accessible to users running iOS 16.0 and later. The deployment is anticipated to be fully implemented by early October, at which time users will receive in-app notifications prompting them to update. For corporate devices that utilize managed Apple IDs, the system will automatically utilize managed accounts for backup and restoration tasks.
