On July 10, Shanghai hosted a press conference for the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Zhang Ying, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Director of the Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, announced that in the first quarter of this year, the scale of Shanghai's above-scale AI industry surpassed 118 billion yuan, marking a 29% year-on-year increase and a 65% profit surge. This robust growth underscores AI's role as a new engine driving economic development in the city. Shanghai is dedicated to fostering an agile and efficient industrial innovation ecosystem, emphasizing technological frontiers and fostering an integrated layout encompassing intelligent computing, corpora, and foundational models. The city is continuously reinforcing its intelligent computing infrastructure, establishing a platform for citywide planning and allocation of intelligent computing resources to cater to the diverse computational needs of various innovation entities. By the end of this year, Shanghai aims to exceed an intelligent computing supply capacity of 100 exaflops.
