A pioneering team from the Tokyo University of Science in Japan has unveiled a self-powered artificial synapse that closely mimics the color discrimination capabilities of the human eye, marking a significant advancement in computer vision research. This innovative system incorporates two dye-sensitized solar cells, capable of directly harnessing solar energy for power, thus facilitating efficient and eco-friendly color recognition. Experimental results demonstrate its ability to discern visible light colors with a remarkable resolution of 10 nanometers and accurately categorize 18 distinct color-action combinations. Looking ahead, this groundbreaking technology is poised for widespread adoption in autonomous driving, healthcare, and consumer electronics, elevating the visual intelligence of end devices to new heights.
