The Cyberspace Administration of China has issued an announcement, adhering to the "Regulations on the Management of Face Recognition Technology Application Security." As of June 1, 2025, any entity handling personal information that stores facial data of 100,000 or more individuals is required to register with the respective provincial cyberspace administration within 30 business days. For those entities that already meet this threshold, registration must be completed by July 14, 2025. In cases where significant changes occur to the registered information, the update process must likewise be finalized within 30 business days.
