This update may inadvertently restrict access to certain apps for users with rooted devices or custom ROMs. The Play Integrity API serves as a valuable resource for developers, allowing them to safeguard against fraudulent activities, cheating, and data theft by authenticating the origin of app interactions and server requests. The new API version not only elevates verification speed and security but also minimizes the volume of device signals collected and analyzed on Google servers.

However, this enhancement may pose challenges for users who rely on custom ROMs or sideloaded apps, as the API now verifies whether apps are sourced from the Play Store. Developers now have the flexibility to integrate the new API, and by May 2025, all users will be automatically upgraded to this system, ensuring a more secure app ecosystem.
