Russian metals billionaire Vladimir Potanin has acquired a 9.95% stake in the internet giant Yandex through Catalytic People, a collaborative venture between his holding company Interros and T-Technologies. Yandex, commonly known as 'Russian Google', is a prominent online service portal in Russia. In July 2024, a consortium of Russian investors purchased Yandex's Russian operations from its Dutch parent company for an estimated $5.4 billion, marking the end of foreign ownership of the company. As a result of this acquisition, Potanin's companies have emerged as one of Yandex's major shareholders, albeit without securing controlling interest.
