Prosecutors in the United States have issued a subpoena to Builder.ai, a London-based AI company, requesting the submission of financial statements and other pertinent documents. This move signifies that Builder.ai was already under legal scrutiny weeks prior to filing for bankruptcy. According to internal emails and sources close to the situation, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York specifically requested information regarding the company's accounting policies, customer lists, and other critical details. In response, Adi Vinyarsh, Builder.ai's legal head, promptly instructed employees to preserve all relevant documents.

Builder.ai had previously garnered significant attention due to allegations that it had overstated its revenue, a scandal that ultimately led to the resignation of its founder and CEO. Currently, the company has announced its intention to appoint an administrator to oversee the bankruptcy proceedings and to gradually phase out its operations.
