Google has incorporated the Passkey feature into its beta Password Manager for Android, enabling users to seamlessly upgrade their stored passwords to passkeys with a single click. Leveraging the FIDO 2/WebAuthn standard, this cross-platform-compatible feature allows users to authenticate into websites using biometrics or PIN codes, significantly enhancing security. Furthermore, users retain the option to disable this feature and continue utilizing traditional password login methods if preferred.
