Brad Smith, Vice Chairman and President of Microsoft, has announced an internal policy prohibiting all employees from utilizing the DeepSeek application across both desktop and mobile devices. This decision stems from concerns regarding the potential risks associated with the application, specifically its ability to disseminate propaganda content and generate unsafe code. While DeepSeek operates as an open-source model that enterprises can deploy to prevent data reflux, Microsoft has chosen to exercise caution in its usage. Notably, Microsoft has not imposed a similar ban on its competitor, Perplexity, within the Windows Store, yet applications associated with Google are no longer available in the store.
