Google has launched a beta tool designed to assist Android developers in pinpointing and rectifying battery drain issues within their applications. Leveraging the Android App Performance Profiler, this tool tracks "excessive wake locks," flagging apps that continue to run in the background for more than three hours without active services as potential problems. The objective of this initiative is to standardize device performance and elevate the user experience. Google is partnering with manufacturers like Samsung and intends to introduce additional performance metrics in the future. Currently, the tool is in its testing phase, and developers are invited to give it a try and share their feedback.
