In the 7th issue of 2024 of Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering (FITEE), Professor Renbin Xiao from Huazhong University of Science and Technology has published a visionary article titled "Four Development Stages of Collective Intelligence." The article illuminates that the realm of artificial intelligence has traversed numerous developmental epochs, giving rise to diverse schools of thought. Amidst the advent of novel information landscapes, traditional artificial intelligence is progressing towards the AI 2.0 era. Collective intelligence (CI), a cornerstone of artificial intelligence, is similarly undergoing a dynamic evolution, transitioning from the CI 1.0 era, grounded in the emulation of social insect behaviors, to the CI 2.0 era, anchored in the internet. The article meticulously examines the interplay and interconnectedness between CI 1.0 and CI 2.0, offering a valuable roadmap for the future trajectory of artificial intelligence.
