On April 5, Meta introduced the latest iterations of its expansive language model, Llama – namely, Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick. According to Meta, Llama 4 is a multimodal AI system designed to handle and integrate diverse data formats, encompassing text, video, images, and audio, facilitating seamless content conversion across these mediums. Both Scout and Maverick pioneer the adoption of a Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture and have been released in an open-source format. Furthermore, Meta provided a sneak peek at Llama 4 Behemoth, heralded as "one of the world's leading language models," which will act as a mentor model for upcoming model training endeavors.
