For over six and a half years, the NVIDIA PhysX SDK has been available as open-source software under the permissive 3-Clause BSD license. However, until recently, not all components were publicly accessible. NVIDIA has now released the source code for the GPU simulation kernel on GitHub, marking a significant milestone in achieving full open-source status. Furthermore, NVIDIA has unveiled the comprehensive GPU compute shader implementation of the Flow SDK. The PhysX SDK boasts multi-platform compatibility, enabling its use on high-end, multi-core CPUs and GPUs alike. It has seamlessly integrated into prominent game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity3D. This bold open-source move is poised to accelerate the adoption and evolution of the PhysX SDK across an even broader spectrum of industries.
